More than just a mover: an employer and a friendly team
But first… what exactly does a mover do?
Becoming a mover is often more challenging than it seems. Indeed, it requires a certain physical strength, but also qualities such as punctuality, a sense of a job well done, and great manual dexterity. You also need tact and diplomacy, as you may sometimes be moving people in delicate situations (elderly clients, moves after a bereavement, separation, etc.).
What are the tasks of a mover?
- Loading and unloading a truck (sometimes purely by hand!)
- Assembling and disassembling furniture, from an Ikea wardrobe to an antique Louis-Philippe piece requiring care and attention.
- Professionally and securely packing furniture and objects, ranging from a simple knick-knack to a valuable work of art!
- Driving a truck or van in sometimes congested areas and being able to maneuver in tight spaces.
- Being able to travel 2 to 3 days for international transport.
- Reassuring and advising clients throughout the move.
- …
What qualities are expected from a team member, a mover:
- Courageous
- Customer-oriented, polite
- Careful
- Punctual
- Precise
- Respectful of their surroundings (neighbors if moving early, the environment by avoiding unnecessary idling of the truck, etc.)
Holding a C or C+E driving license is a real asset!
